Shutterhouse

An unrealised house for a film director. The project is located at an end of terrace in a typical Victorian London Street. The vacant plot is extremely narrow and had remained undeveloped. Rises in property value inevitably made the viability of the project possible. With a small plan area allowing essentially one room per floor a series of voids and vertical connections were carved out. Panels and louvres modulate the facade to control both internal temperature and light to provide a full black-out experience during the day for film screenings.
